As Starbucks grew in the mid 2000’s, these two facilities helped them expand beyond the historic corporate offices. I helped create new, smaller commercial furniture standards. The smaller footprint needed to be sensitive to those who were moving from the larger workstations and the main corporate headquarters. So we created a “neighborhood concept”. This allowed partners to curate their individual and departmental environment with flexible, but standard add-ons to the main, more generic footprint. You can see in the drawings below, some of the options they might have had to create more collaboration between partners.
